Microstrategy is a BI platform with Unified BI architecture providing all BI reporting styles through a single interface,single metadata,single code base and a single Process.
It provides 5 styles of Business intelligence reporting  like Dashboards and scorecards,Reporting,OLAP Analysis,Advanced & predictive analysis and Alert & proactive notification.


Microstrategy BI platform includes the following components.
1.Microstrategy Metadata:it is a repository created at the time of the MSTR configuration to store the Microstrategy objects definition,it also stores information about the data-warehouse. 
2.Microstrategy Intelligence server:MSTR intelligence server(I-server) is an  analytical server optimized for querying,reporting and OLAP(online analytical processing) analysis purpose.it provides the flexibility of sharing objects,data across different  microstrategy projects.It protects the metadata information.Several intelligence servers can be clustered when multiple machines are pointing to single metadata this is called CLUSTERING.In a cluster each machine is called a NODE.
3.Microstrategy Desktop:It is used to design,create and maintain an entire BI system from a single interface by integrating desktop(designer & analyst),architect and administrative tools to manage users,implement security,configure and maintain I-server.Desktop supports querying,reporting and analysis services.There are more than 200 predefined functions within microstrategy desktop.
4.Microstrategy  Web and Web Universal:Highly interactive and low maintenance interface for reporting and analysis.MicroStrategy Web provides ad-hoc querying, industry-leading analysis, quick deployment, and rapid customization potential, making it easy for users to make informed business decisions
5.Microstrategy Project:Projects are where we can build and create schema objects and the information required to create application obkects like reports,documents and dynamic dashboards
